After the long work, the team selected by POISK Centre wins gold at the Vserossiysky Turnir Yunykh Fizikov, the Russian selective Tournament held in Moscow on March13—18, 2006, and continues preparation to the IYPT.
During the four selective fights the Akademicheskaya Gimnaziya team has successfully defended their solutions of the challenging research tasks and then proved their superiority with a fascinating report and discussions in the 2006 finals, held at the Department of Physics, Moscow State University.
The team has now confirmed the honor to represent Russia at the 19th International Young Physicists’ Tournament, which is scheduled to take place on 5—12 July, 2006 in Bratislava (Slovakia). The team has already started further training and preparation work.
The POISK Centre expresses the gratitude to the professors and students at Saint Petersburg State University who supported the team and helped in preparations, especially Dr. Robert Kolalis, Dr. Alexey Pirozersky, Dr. Evgeny Denisov, Dr. Dmitry Lisachenko, Dr. Boris Borisov, Dr. Evgeny Timofeev, Dr. Vladislav Bozhevolonov, Dr. Sergey Vlasenko, Pavel Ulyanov, Dmitry Martchenko, Ivan Yamschikov, Arseny Lunyov, Mikhail Karnevsky and overall to Dr. Sergey Pivovarov (Akademicheskaya Gimnaziya).

An excellent performance was also given by the second POISK Centre’s team (Alexander Kanivets, Yury Zemlyansky, Alexey Safronov, Evgeny Zakrevsky, Lev Spodyneyko).
The POISK Centre had earlier selected and prepared National teams that had won gold at selective tournaments in 2004 and 2005 and had represented Russia at the International competitions (18th and 17th International Young Physicists’ Tournaments) in Switzerland and Australia. In 2004 the team won bronze and was awarded with the third diploma, tying for the 4th position in the ranking table.
Everyone is invited to help the team in further work. The reports (in English language) will take place at the POISK Centre seminars. More info can be found at official Tournament website www.iypt.org, and latest news on the POISK Centre web-pages.
